ELF Primer Experiment

Hey everyone! Is eye primer worth it? A while back when I did the review on the ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer I said I'd do a test to see how long it held up and if it really made a difference by the end of the day. All the same products and bushes I used were the same. Here's the results: The eye on the right does not have primer and the left one does. I just used a sparkly white shadow and a dark gray. The camera didn't show the colors very well. But the main difference is without the primer (right eye) the gray wouldn't go only in the area I wanted it to. I tried to put it in the crease and it spread across the lid because it had nothing to stick to. Also the white in the inner corners did not show up very well or last all day. The lid with the primer (right) blended well and the colors went where I wanted. So in my opinion eyeshadow primer is definitely worth it. It gives you long lasting color and easy blendabilty.

Midnight Ocean Eyes

Hey everyone!
This is a really easy and pretty dark blue and aqua color look I did today.
1. First I primed my eyes with ELF Mineral Eye Primer
2. I applied the left side of Loreal HIP in Showy to my inner corners and 3/4 of the way across my lid, but not extended above the crease. (I just used the Mary Kay brushes I have but I am about to get some new brushes, either ELF or Sigma.)
3. Next I used a crease brush and applied the right side, the dark blue, to the outer corners in a V shape.
4. Then I took a really dark blue eyeshadow I got at Sally's (its the Sally Girl mini eyeshadow in Midnight) and put it on the outer side right in the crease. This just darkens up the crease some, but you don't have to.
5. Next I took a plain clean brush and went over me whole lid with it to blend all the colors.
6. Then I used Jordana EasyLiner in Blue Devine and lined the bottom and inner corners of the top and bottom but then just the outside of the top and winged it out a little. *My eyes are small so I didn't go all the way across the top, which would make them look even smaller.
7. I curled my lashes and finished off with Lash Blast Lengths Mascara.

Big Wavy Curls

Hey guys! I am going to show you all an easy technique to get big curls. I have naturally curly hair so I have to use a straightener on the roots and a curling iron too. This process on my hair usually take 2 hours, but I have a lot of hair. *This works best with hair with long layers. 1. Dry your hair after washing it. Section your hair off in 3 sections, starting with the bottom layer. Since my hair is thick and curly, I don't brush it at all when I blow dry it because it gets huge and puffy and only causes more breakage. But if your hair is straight, you can brush it while blow drying it. Make sure it is completely dry so the curls will hold. 2. Next section your hair again but in smaller sections and start at the bottom. I usually take 2 in wide sections, but thin, at a time. Spray the individual sections with heat protectant and comb it. I only apply it to the ends because my hair gets flat if i spray it all over. 3. If your hair is curly, straighten the roots about 1 1/2 inches down. I use Paul Mitchell's straightening iron: 4. The important part: Clamp your hair in the iron staring at the top of the strand at wrap it a few times, holding the end with your other hand. Then slide the iron down until the end is in it and roll it back up and hold it for a few seconds. The longer you hold it, the tighter the curls. (If you start at the tip of the strand and wrap it all the way to the roots the top of your hair is not touching the iron and hitting the heat directly. By starting at the roots and pulling it down to the tips, it insures that all the hair gets even heat.) *If you hold the iron vertically facing up, you will have more spiral curls. If you hold it horizontally they will be more like waves. I use Hellen of Troy 1 1/2 inch iron. It does good for only being around $30 at Salley Beauty Supply. 5. Continue this on each section working your way to the top layer. Curl each strand the opposite direction as the last. Like if the first strand is curled towards your face do the next curled back. This will make texture and keep the curls from grouping together making one big wave. I like to curl the front pieces back so it is flipped back out of my face. Or you can curl them towards your face to frame your face. 6. Spray each section with hairspray right away to make sure each layer holds. Flip your hair upside down, shake it, and spray it all over. Flip it back up and use your fingers to piece it apart and style it, then spray again. I use Panteen Volumizing Hairspray. *DO NOT brush it. This will pull the curls apart. Then your done! Comment if you tried this look or if you have your own technique you want to share. Also post a picture if you tried it out! XOXO, Gena

ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer

Hey everyone! So when I put on my foundation I’ve always applied it all over my lids too, thinking that it was holding on my eye shadow. But then I was noticing people were doing a lot of reviews on eye shadow primer. I never really thought about it before, but I noticed how much better people’s eye shadow look when they do use a primer. It blends better, the color are richer, doesn’t crease, and makes it last longer. One problem that I always run in to when I am trying to blend my eye shadow up, it likes to spread outside of the area I want it to, and fall below my eye. And it is easily wiped off. So I thought I’d give primer a try. Everyone is crazy about Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance, which I’m sure they work great but they are over $20. I had been looking at drug stores and have not been able to find any primer. So I started looking around online at cosmetic sites for one and I found one on eyeslipsface.com. And it was only $3.00!! I got the mineral one so it was a little more expensive. But the regular one is only $1. I would have gotten that one but I saw the mineral one first so I thought that was the only one they had. I was a little worried about it because I had never heard anyone talk about using it so I read the reviews on it and they were good. So I thought, why not try it! I think the shipping was something like $5.00. So I looked online for some coupons and I found a coupon code for $2 shipping at ELF. So I got the whole thing for only $5.00!!

So it finally came a few days later and I love it! I have never tried a primer before but it works just fine and its affordable. My shadow goes on evenly and is still looking great by the end of the day.

When I get the chance I will do a test where I’ll only where the primer on one eye and see by the end of the day how my shadow looks and compare each eye. The results will be coming soon.

The discount code for $2 shipping is TOOSHIP

XOXO,

Gena
