Tutorial: Mila Kunis Cosmo Feb 2011 Cover

Hey everyone! As soon as I saw this gorgeous cover I just KNEW I had to do a tutorial on it. I loved the eye makeup, and its just the kind of look I love to wear. Click on any link to buy the products. Here's how I got this look, using the Coastal Scents 88 Color Palette:

-Apply UDPP all over lid and lower lash line.
-Take a few beige eye shadows mixed together and apply them all over the lid with a Sigma E55 flat shader brush.
-Then taking a Sigma E35 tapered blending brush, get a medium brown color and blend it in the entire crease and up some.
-Apply a darker brown color, using a Sigma E45 small tapered blending and apply it to the outer corner and slightly angle the shadow up creating a wing.
-Using a Sigma E30 pencil brush, apply the dark brown shadow to the lower lashline
-Using the same brush, get a black color and apply it very close to the lash line on the outer corner or the upper and lower lash line.
-Apply more of the beige shadow to the middle of the lid
-Apply a skin tone color to the brow bone for a highlight
-Using a Sigma E70, apply a shimmery beige color to the inner corners and right below the brow.

-Using L'Oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Liner in Carbon Black, apply a very thick line and wing it out.
-Take a black creamy pencil like Urban Decay 24-7 Glide On Liner in Zero and line the tight line and water line. Smudge this using MAC's Carbon and a pencil brush on the lower lash line.
-Finish off with lots of L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black (click for a review on this).

-For the face apply lots of matte bronzer on forehead, hollows of the cheeks, and jawline. I used NARS Laguna Bronzer.
-For cheeks I used a natural color like N.Y.C. Blushable Creme Stick in South St. Seashell

-Apply a highlighter like Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finishing Powder in Brighten

-For lips I lined them with NYX's lipliner in Natural and applied Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Soft Nude (click here for a review on these)

Let me know what you all think! Do you love this cover too?

Review, Swatches, and Demo: Maybelline Stylish Smokes Quad in Amethyst Smokes

Hey everyone! I did a look with this and swatches so you could really see the quality. It is the Maybelline Stylish Smokes Quad in Amethyst Smokes (about $5 on Amazon if you click the link). I think I paid about $7 at the drugstore for it.

Since the Maybelline EyeStudio stuff is such great quality, I thought these would be the same. However, I was not as impressed. These shadows are not bad, but not the best. It comes with a lid color, crease, outer corner, and highlight. They are not the smoothest shadows. I felt like i really had to swipe my brush a lot to get the color up. Here are the swatches:
I was surprised how the lid color (the first one) showed up on my hand. It did not show up this pigmented on my eye. The crease color (the second one) was the other way around. It looked good on my eye but this swatch doesn't look the best. The white and the black showed up about right.

The lid color was very hard to apply and did not blend well. It was not pigmented and seemed to stick to my eye and not spread around. Here is a picture with just the lid color:
Not the best. I would not wear this color alone.

This is with the crease color added:
As you can see, it looks a lot better once the crease color is added.

Then the finished look:
Its not too bad, but not good enough for me to purchase another one. You can spend the same amount of money, and get one of the Maybelline EyeStudio Wet Eye Shadow Quads (Click here for a review on those) and get way better quality.

I'd love to know if any of you have tried these!

Tutorial: Reverse Smokey Eye

This smudgey winged look can be worn anytime. you can lighten it up for day or darken it for night.i call it reverse smokey because it goes up from dark to light instead of the traditional smokey eye where it goes light to dark. This look will make your eyelashes look super thick!

-First apply UDPP
-Apply NYX Eyeshadow Base in White to the inner half of the eye
-Apply Maybelline EyeStudio Gel Liner in Black using a Sigma E05 to the outer corner and wing out slightly. Also apply this to the outer half of the tightline.
-Next take a dense stiff smudge brush, like the Sigma E30, and MAC's eyeshadow in Carbon and apply it over the eyeliner and smudge upwards slightly. Also flick the shadow out past the wing, creating a slight fade from the wing.
-Then using a angled shading brush, like the Sigma E70, and NYX's For Your Eyes Only Smokey Eyes palette (the darkest gray color) and apply that above the black.
-Then using the same brush, apply the lighter gray shadow above that dark gray.
-Using a large shader, like Sigma E60, and apply a shimmery white shadow like Maybelline EyeStudio Wet Eyeshadow Quad in Sapphire Siren (the white shadow) to the inner corner of the lid and blend upwards.
-Lastly apply a plain highlight color, like NYX's eyeshadow in Highlight.
-If you want, apply the gel liner very thinly on the outer corner of the lower lashline.
-Apply a black mascara, like L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black. When applying it, angle the lashes outward, towards the wing to emphasize it.

And that's all! It's a lot easier than it looks!
Comment if you try it.
